Burdan Yumurta's Sustainability Move: 12,420 Solar Panels Cover 85% of Energy Needs

Burdan Yumurta, the egg brand of Matlı Group officially distributed in Bulgaria by Agropoint Solutions, has completed a landmark sustainability project at its production facilities. The site in Canbaz district, Karacabey — operational since 2010 — has fitted its poultry farm rooftops with a large-scale solar energy installation, setting a new benchmark for the sector in Bursa.

A Large-Scale Solar Installation

The project encompasses 12,420 solar panels installed across a rooftop area of 20,720 m², covering 14 laying hen houses and 3 pullet rearing facilities. The target is to supply approximately 85% of the facility's annual energy consumption from renewable sources — a significant step towards independence from conventional grid electricity.

The installation was realised through the subsidiary Verim Gıda and is the first project of its kind in Bursa within this field. Burdan Yumurta's facilities house more than 2 million laying hens, making this one of the most substantial industrial renewable energy deployments in the Turkish poultry sector.

Sustainability as a Core Value

This investment reflects the broader vision of Matlı Group for responsible production. The group firmly believes that high-quality, sustainable food requires care not only for the product itself, but also for the environment — from reducing carbon emissions to making rational use of natural resources.
